Introduction
A few years ago the SNS Lighting Division was created to accommodate our existing client base lighting upgrade projects. We decide to pursue this area of energy conservation mainly because we recognized a need to clarify the confusion of eligibility in regards to the NYSERDA ENERGY $MART Program, implied savings, installation costs and maintenance of the new systems. We also realized there was a significant opportunity to train our staff to become proficient in identifying opportunities within housing complexes, factories, and production plants that would greatly benefit from a lighting system upgrade project.

After working several years with "Energy Managers" for real estate management companies, real estate development companies, production plants and factories we have become recognized by NYSERDA and have obtained the status as Certified NYSERDA Contractor or a phrase as coined by NYSERDA. An "ENERGY $MART ALLY".

The SNS Lighting Division on staff engineers, if requested, will perform a free lighting survey. Our trained professionals will identify all areas where your facility may benefit from more efficient lighting. We will at no obligation compile an easy to read analysis report (sample report) for your review and be right there to answer all your questions. Utilizing our team of engineers, OSHA certified project managers, licensed electricians, electrician's helpers and administrative assistants we can walk you through every step of the process, seamlessly. We will also investigate your possible eligibility for the NYSERDA ENERGY $MART PROGRAM where significant grants, rebates, low cost loans and many other incentives may be available.

How much you save depends on several factors including the size of your space, the hours of use, installation costs, and your existing lighting systems. A typical 3,000 square foot retail space could achieve the following savings with a SNS Lighting retrofit:

*The above chart shows estimated savings for a typical 3,000 square foot retail space. Actual savings and project costs may vary. The project installation and product costs are an estimated $3,300. The annual savings from the project are $2,800 per year based on a consumption of $5000.00 per year pre project energy expenditures or over 50% annualized savings with an ROI of less than 6 months.

A sample of SNS Lighting Division Solutions Measures:

Tubular Fluorescents

Tubular fluorescents are the workhorses of commercial lighting. T12 lamps (with a diameter of 12/8ths inches and magnetic ballasts) have been used since the 1920s. T8 lamps and electronic ballasts gained popularity in the 1990s. Manufacturers have recently developed "premium" (800-series) T8 lamps that have 20% longer life and better color rendition. New T8 systems can be installed in old fixtures because the lamps are interchangeable. They typically pay for themselves in utility bill savings within two years, by reducing energy use by 20-25% or even more if your lighting system is old. Taking into consideration the energy efficiency of the T8 systems, maintenance costs to replace the T12 lamps, ballasts, and the possibility of a NYSERDA rebate, you should speak to a professional today! Compact Fluorescent (CF) Lamps

Unlike standard fluorescent lamps, CF lamps can directly replace standard incandescent bulbs. Retrofitting your office space with CF lamps provides high quality light, dramatically decreases the number of times you need to replace your light bulbs, and saves energy which translates into $$$ money. CF lamps last up to 10 times longer, use about 1/4 the energy, and produce 90% less heat, while producing more light per watt. Provide your information on this brief survey form and an SNS Lighting energy conservation professional will respond with your estimated yearly savings and recommendations.  Purchase online.

Metal Halide Systems

Metal halide lamps have long been used to replace high wattage incandescent or mercury vapor lamps. Metal halide systems save approximately 75% when replacing incandescent lamps and 25% or more when replacing mercury vapor. Newer "pulse start" metal halides offer a 15-20% efficiency improvement over standard metal halides. As you can see lighting technology changes rapidly, bookmark this page for updates on the latest technologies. Purchase online.

Exit Signs

If you are still using incandescent lighting in your exit signs, switching to light emitting diode (LED) technology will save 80%. Exit signs run continuously so the savings add up. An additional reason to switch is that LED's last 10 years or more. Purchase online.
